Roll for initiative

Character sheet · Book One

Cami

Sarcastic, sharp-eyed, and impossible to ignore. Learning that being loved by four people might be the least complicated part.

By day
Freelance marketer: social campaigns, content calendars, copywriting
At the table
Cleric, the snack-based healer

Traits

  • Arrives with a box of snacks and a dangerous smile, and has the house figured out within an hour.
  • Alphabetizes the spice rack and runs the dishwasher every night.
  • Asks everyone about themselves and gives away almost nothing about her.
  • Tattoos up both arms, gold hoops, combat boots.

In their own words

“Relax, Roomie. I brought snacks.”
“I’m better at selling other people than myself.”
“So if I show up tonight, is this a trap or a side quest?”

Fan detail: She moves in with two potted plants named after punk rock drummers. One has googly eyes.

From Initiative. No spoilers.
Character sheet · Book One

Griffin

Still trying to protect everyone.

By day
Paramedic
At the table
The tank: a heavily armored fighter with a shield

Traits

  • Holds the house together with a chore chart, house rules and a very specific mug system.
  • Comes home from other people’s worst days and still takes his seat at game night, because it keeps the walls from closing in.
  • Protective on reflex. His first ruling on the new roommate: off-limits.

In their own words

“Um... you’re a girl.”
“Not unless they leave dishes in the sink”
“Because I have a system”

Fan detail: House rule number one, according to Ronan: don’t move Griffin’s mugs.

From Initiative. No spoilers.
Character sheet · Book One

Ronan

The Dungeon Master, learning that control is easier than feelings.

By day
Librarian
At the table
Dungeon Master

Traits

  • Curls tied back, glasses halfway down his nose, Scotch in hand and a notebook scribbled to death with plot hooks.
  • Reads people the way he reads his players, spotting the twist three sessions before it drops.
  • Pour-over coffee, real candles at the table, and a voice that drops into DM mode on command.

In their own words

“Roll for initiative.”
“You shouldn’t have to guess how pretentious I am.”
“I contain multitudes”

Fan detail: He’s the one who asks what she likes to be called. That’s how the house learns it’s Cami.

From Initiative. No spoilers.
Character sheet · Book One

Micah

Finally taking up space.

By day
Tattoo artist
At the table
Warlock (the one who touched the glowing chalice)

Traits

  • Quiet and consistent, and somehow emotionally devastates the whole party every time he roleplays.
  • Draws in a gothic, haunted style, like he’s sketching the things he can’t say out loud.
  • Up with the sun to sketch; forgets to eat until someone hands him a banana.
  • Notices everything. Says about a tenth of it.

In their own words

“Still not sad.”
“It’s anatomical. Educational.”
“It was glowing.”

Fan detail: Cami nicknames him Sad Boy within a day. He disagrees, in a tank top printed with a bleeding heart.

From Initiative. No spoilers.
Character sheet · Book One

Dex

Three bad decisions in a trench coat, with a guitar.

By day
Bartender at the Garden Room, and frontman of the band Grave Intentions
At the table
Bard

Traits

  • Chaos incarnate on a beanbag: silver-blue streaks in his hair, chipped dark nail polish, licorice between his teeth.
  • Character sheet covered in gel-pen doodles.
  • On stage: eyeliner, glitter, crowd surfing, and a splash zone for the front rows.
  • In Griffin’s words: golden retriever by day, gremlin god by night.

In their own words

“I’m the bard. I live in the back and make things sexy.”
“platonic pepperoni theft does not exist”
“that’s slander - my playlists are immaculate.”

Fan detail: House rule number two: don’t trust Dex near an aux cord or Bluetooth speaker.

From Initiative. No spoilers.

Author’s notes & content warnings

Dungeons & Dragons Disclaimer

While Dungeons & Dragons is woven deeply into this story, a few creative liberties were taken along the way. Each book, in its pre-edited entirety, was alpha-read by several experienced players, and each game scene was reviewed by long-time players and Dungeon Masters in my own circle.

That being said… in this fictional house we use table rules, we don’t always stay in character, and the moments you’re reading are only small shards of much larger, much messier campaigns. I did my best to honor the spirit of the game—but for the sake of pacing, storytelling, and emotional rhythm, some things bend, some things blur, and some things are just theirs.

This is a story about choosing softness even when you’ve been hardened by life. It’s messy, a little nerdy, and deeply intimate—not just sexually, but emotionally.

Thank you for being here. I hope you fall for these characters the way I did—slowly, completely, and with your whole heart.

Neurodivergent representation

This series proudly features representation of neurodivergent characters. With personal experience with ASD and ADHD, along with clinical knowledge, I aim to portray these characters authentically. It's important to remember that neurodivergence exists on a spectrum and looks different for everyone. Nothing written or implied is intended as a blanket statement or generalization of any member of the neurodivergent community.

Additional Note on Advantage

This book includes a brief scene involving sexual intimidation and coercive behavior that was not present in Initiative and therefore not included in the author's note or content warnings for Book One. This behavior comes from someone outside the polycule and is neither condoned nor minimized within the story.

As always, your well-being matters more than finishing a chapter. Please read gently.

Additional Note on End Game

This book includes religious trauma, spiritual abuse, familial rejection, disownment, brief mention of conversion therapy, and religiously motivated emotional abuse that was not present in Initiative or Advantage and therefore not included in the author's note or content warnings for Books One or Two. This is contained to one chapter, and that chapter is 42.

As always, your well-being matters more than finishing a chapter. Please read gently.

Content warnings for the complete trilogy
Author’s note

Before you dive into Roll For Love: Initiative and the rest of the trilogy, I want to offer a quick note about what you’ll find inside this story—and what might come with it.

This book is a love letter to found family, slow-burn chaos, emotional honesty, and that strange magic that happens when five broken people accidentally become a home.

It’s also a why choose romance—meaning no one has to pick just one partner, and no one gets left behind. But it’s not just about a woman loved by multiple men. Some of these men love each other, too. This isn’t a traditional reverse harem. It’s a web, not a line. It’s about connection in every direction, and what it means to share love without scarcity.

That said, this story doesn’t shy away from the messy parts. Our female main character lives with Type I diabetes, and her journey includes medically accurate details about insulin pumps, blood sugar crashes, and the harsh reality of insurance access in the U.S. You’ll also find themes of family rejection, housing insecurity, trauma healing, and learning to trust again—both yourself and others.

On the spice front: yes, it’s open-door. As the series progresses, so does the intimacy. Expect kink-affirming dynamics, praise, power play, and emotionally grounded group scenes—with clear consent and communication (and plenty of chaos).

If you're sensitive to any of the following, please take care of yourself as you read:

  • Chronic Illness / Type I Diabetes (including medical emergencies, insulin pump use, CGM alarms, hypoglycemia, and DKA)
  • Neurodivergence and mental health struggles
  • Medical financial stress / healthcare insecurity
  • Touch starvation, loneliness, and emotional trauma
  • Toxic relationship fallout and past emotional and physical abuse
  • Houselessness risk / sudden eviction
  • Dysfunctional family dynamics and social rejection
  • Sexual Coercion
  • Homophobia / Queerphobia
  • Religious Trauma
  • Graphic, on-page, sexually explicit content including kink, voyeurism, group scenes, and consensual D/s dynamics
  • References to and use of alcohol, nicotine, and marijuana
  • Profanity
